install
two minutes: the extension, the cli, and one command per agent.
on this page
steps#
- add the extension from the chrome web store. it works in any chromium browser.
- install the cli and register the native host with your browsers:
terminal
$ npm i -g @elmts/cli # puts `el` on your PATH $ el install # registers with Chrome, Arc, Brave, Edge, …
- connect your agent (any combination, or
--all-agents):terminal$ el install --claude # or --opencode, --pi, --codex, --cursor, --muse
what each agent gets is in connect your agent.
- optional: sign in for save & share:
el login. see save & share.
check it worked: the toolbar icon's popup says connected, and el status shows the hub and your browser.
browsers#
verified: chrome, arc, brave and edge. el install also registers with opera, opera gx, vivaldi, yandex, thorium, helium, dia, comet and sidekick when they're installed, and always with chrome's folder (several forks read it).
if the popup says offline in another chromium browser, point el install at its user-data folder (the one with its Default profile), then reload the extension:
$ el install --dir "~/Library/Application Support/SomeBrowser"
safari and firefox aren't supported.
update#
the extension updates itself through the web store. update the cli with npm i -g @elmts/cli again; the hub restarts on its own.
uninstall#
$ el uninstall # removes the native host and element's agent plugins and hooks $ npm rm -g @elmts/cli
then remove the extension from chrome://extensions. local state lives in ~/.element; delete that folder to remove picks, screenshots and snapshots.
