cursor
the cursor editor adds picks to chat as chips; cursor cli gets them typed into its prompt, and attaches them when you send.

set up#
terminal
$ el install --cursor
this sets up both the cursor editor and cursor cli: an editor extension, hooks and a status line for the cli. reload cursor windows and restart cursor-agent afterwards.
cursor editor#
- each pick is added to the chat as a file chip (
element-7-div.plan.md). remove the chip and the pick isn't sent. - the status bar shows the window's waiting picks.
- each window is its own session, named after its folder.
cursor cli#
- like codex, each pick types
[element #7]into the prompt whencursor-agentruns in tmux, iTerm2, cmux, WezTerm, herdr, Zellij, GNU screen, kitty, Konsole or Ghostty on macOS. only chips left in your message are sent. to turn chips off, set{"cursorAgentChips": false}in~/.element/config.json. - in other terminals there's no chip: every waiting pick goes with your next message.
- the status line under the prompt lists the waiting picks. cursor only redraws it when something changes on its side, so picks made while it sits idle may show only when you send.
- to drop waiting picks, run
el clear(orel clear --ids el_7) in the same folder.
remove#
el uninstall removes the extension, hooks and status line.
